Rolling Hill Farm, Inc. is our state licensed nursery and certified organic farm in Lunenburg County, VA.  As members of the Virginia Native Plant Society, United Plant Savers and the Virginia Association for Biological Farming, we practice sustainable agriculture, silvaculture and wild crafting.  Please see the PICS page to view what we can offer you.

In September 2006, Rolling Hill Farm became part of the statewide Virginia inventory of the ecological status of rare plant and animal species and natural communities.  This inventory, immense in scope, is known as the Virginia Natural Heritage Program.  The Natural Heritage Program, recently named by NatureServe as the top natural heritage program in the Western Hemisphere, is overseen by the Virginia Dept. of Conservation and Recreation.  The results of the VA Natural Herigae Program are to be published by the University of Virginia Press in 2011.  We were excited to be accepted as inventory participants. The data collected at Rolling Hill Farm is helping us protect, manage and preserve our acreage in the most ecologically sound ways possible.  To the best of our knowledge, we have no endangered plant species on our acerage.  As we develop our Nursery operations, it is good to know that we will be doing no harm to any endangered plants.

MOSS & MOSS GARDENS

Mosses are tough, simple plants that require little  maintenance once established. Most mosses are perennial and live for quite a few years.  A moss garden lends a subtle beauty to the landscape and provides creative gardening opportunituies in difficult landscape situations.

We can help you locate and prepare a moss garden in your home landscape. Then we can deliver and install: mats of live moss, moss covered rocks of varying sizes, mossy tree bark pieces, moss covered logs or moss slurry to cover your prepared moss garden site.

Rolling Hill Farm's 135 acres are home to an extraordinary collection of native Virginia "mosses."  From moss covered rocks to acres of Fan Club-moss (Lycopodium digitatum - actually a fern relative) we can provide native mosses for speciality landscaping needs.
